ROM, RAM and CACHE MEMORY
ROM means Read-only Memory.
ROM is installed on the motherboard. It is an inbuilt software.
Programing in ROM is permanent. The data of ROM is non-volatile.
It can work without the supply of power that is why it is called FIRMWARE.
ROM is used in computer, laptop and in a digital meter of the washing machine, in a
microwave oven,in-vehicle dashboard, in remote of TV, AC and in several appliances.
It is used to control the operation of any appliances/equipment.
ROM is provided for the use of equipment itself not for the operator.
RAM means Random Access Memory.
Any work in the computer is done through RAM.
The operator can work through its command and control.
Higher RAM of computer or mobile can facilitate more work at fast speed.
Multy function at fast speed is possible with higher RAM provision.
RAM is volatile, its memory is not permanent. Any operational work is performed
through RAM.
On saving any content of a file it goes and permanently saved in the hard disc.
Running data is available in RAM.
CACHE MEMORY is an extremely fast memory that functions as a buffer between RAM and CPU.
It holds frequently used data so that they are promptly available to the CPU
whenever required.
CACHE MEMORY facilitate to reduce the average time to access data from the
main memory.
ROM, RAM and CACHE MEMORY is called primary memory.
